Fishing starts from our base at the Tamarind Village at 07.30am or the time you prefer.
Whilst en-route to the Fishing Grounds you pass through the entrance of the Old Dhow Harbour, and have the superb view of Mombasa’s Old Town and historic Fort Jesus, the fortress that was constructed by the Portugese in 1593.
We fish throughout the year. Mombasa Coast is famous for its large variety of fish. Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Kingfish, Barracuda, Giant Trevally are frequently caught. Of the Billfish, Sailfish and Striped Marlin are the most common, also possibility to catch Black and Blue Marlin as well as Sharks.
Deep Water Sportfishing operates under Tag and Release policy for all Billfishes and Sharks. This is done by tagging the Billfish at the Boat, so that they can provide vital information for conservation and research purposes.
We are member of IGFA (International Game Fish Association), K.A.S.A. (Kenya Association of Sea Anglers) and African Billfish Foundation.
There are days when the fish doesn’t bite as wished, but you could be a lucky one to see Dolphins doing their acrobatics or Humpback Whale splashing its enormous body in water as they migrate along the Kenyan Coast as well as Sea Turtles.
Our clients have been fortunate to catch a sight of the world’s Largest Fish, Whale Shark. This giantic, harmless plankton eating Shark reach upto nine (9) meters in length.
